The Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period runs from January 1 through March 31 each year. During this time, people already enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan can switch to another Medicare Advantage plan or return to Original Medicare and, if needed, join a separate Medicare drug plan.

Changes generally take effect the first day of the month after the plan receives the request.
